Who’s the one?

There were almost too many big-time Trade Deadline deals to blog about, but the fact that every single one of these guys has breathed new life into his new team has made it a lot easier to keep track of.

Seriously, did anyone really expect such immediate returns on their investments?

Check out the new guy in the No. 99 uniform at Dodger Stadium. I’m telling you … Manny isn’t just being Manny … he’s being the Man.

The Angels have got to be kidding me. The best record in the game and now a trade for at least a few months of Mark Teixeira? Sick.

And I should have known the Yankees would load up again. This time they got a nice haul, including a Hall of Fame catcher in Pudge Rodriguez. What does that mean? It means watch out, Red Sox and Rays.

Then again, Boston isn’t exactly hurting from the Manny deal, not when they brought in a great fit like slugger Jason Bay.

Every one of these teams is in the hunt for October and every one of these teams might have gotten just a little bit better, which means baseball got A LOT better … and A LOT more confusing. I think maybe I have to take a few more hours at the computer to figure this all out again, but it’s tough when you’ve got the Postseason on your mind.

Until then,

O.G.

Being a guy that chases home run balls in Anaheim and LA I think I got the best of the trade deadline deals. Casey Blake and Manny for the left field pavilion in LA and Teixera for right field at Anaheim!! WOW!! What more could I want!!john

Cool stuff. Wish I had a key to the video vault. Though I know he hasn’t done anything out of this world yet, I wish there was a video showing the fans at the Cell (comiskey) last night when they announced Ken Griffey, Jr. That was some ovation and we’ re happy to have him.

Gonzo – you have a great blog with all of those videos. Its going to be a great October for sure. Who knows – maybe the Rays will be there. Oh yeah, speaking of videos, the Batting Stance Guy has a new video on you tube on the Pirates. Its hilarious!

I believe you are correct on two fronts…First, both the Yankees and the Dodgers got considerably better at the deadline, with the Bombers adding Nady, Marte, and Pudge, while the Boys in Blue added Manny. I will disagree that the Boston Red Sox got better. In my opinion, they got better and worse. Here me out on this…They got better chemistry and clubhouse-wise by adding a non-superstar, quality player in Jason Bay. They got worse on the field by breaking up the closest thing we as baseball fans are ever going to see in terms of a comparable Ruth-Gehrig duo in Manny and Ortiz. That’s not to mention the fact that the Red Sox are paying all of Manny’s remaining salary PLUS they had to give up a nice young outfielder in Brandon Moss and a power arm in Craig Hansen. I believe Pittsburgh made out better in this deal than the Red Sox did, getting not only that aforementioned players, but also getting a nice power starter, Bryan Norris, but also Andy LaRoche, who will be playing alongside his both Adam in the ‘burgh.

I enjoy your blog, keep up the good work.-Billy
