Phantastic

This just in: The Phillies just beat the Brewers, 6-2, to clinch the National League Division Series, which means we have ourselves an NL Championship Series matchup that’s full of intrigue.

You have to like the Phillies, who took over their division in September and kept the momentum going the first week of this month, but the Dodgers have an intriguing mix of offense, defense and pitching with the master, Joe Torre, calling the shots.

So who’s going to take this NLCS and in how many games?

Let me hear your thoughts.

I say the Dodgers. They’ve got Joe Torre, who won four World Series with the Yankees. They’ve got Manny, Either, and Blake. Dodgers in five or six.

Phillies have this series all the way. They’ll win in five, only dropping the first game in LA. If Hamels and Myers continue to pitch well, this series will be no contest. At last Broad Street will get it’s long awaited parade, and Phillies nation will be happy. (if the Bostonians can call their baseball team’s following a nation, we can do it too)

i think its time for the phillies to show what they got i like there starting pitching and jimmy rollins chase utley and that big hitter ryan howard to get into the world seires but go down to the red hot red sox in 4 gAMES AND ANOTHER CAMPIONCHIP GO BACK TO BEANTOWN PILLIES REDSOX WORLD SEIRES JUST A LITTLE PERDICTION BY HAYDEN ESKRIDGE GO RED SOX!

I think it’s hard to bet against the Dodgers at this point after what they did to the Cubs…but then again, maybe the Phillies have the right lineup to combat L.A.’s power right arms. If Rollins, who finally got back to his old self in the last month, Howard and Utley each have a good series then we could be looking at Philadelphia representing the NL.

There’s a lot of intriguing matchups between these two teams, but the bottom line is is that it comes down to pitching and who can stymie the other’s lineup.

    Prediction: Dodgers in Seven

I want the Phillies to win cuz i’m a Giants fan 😀 I hope the Phillies sweep ‘um. But seriously it’s really hard cuz the Dodgers and the Phills are both doing really well.

Two factors for why I like the Dodgers in the 2008 NLCS:

    1. Manager Joe Torre. I believe his playoff expertise can outsmart Charlie Manuel.

    2. The former players are better than former manager. With Casey Blake and Manny Ramirez, I will take my chances to win much better than with Charlie Manuel.

    Dodgers in six games

This is going to be a great series match up. Phillies have the advantage on paper but the Dodgers have been hot and that’s what you need to get into the big dance. I like the Dodgers in 6 games. Cole Hamels can be beat and Derek Lowe is a playoff successful pitcher. Manny makes that lineup potent but it also makes those hitters around him better. I like that Furcal is back because it balances what Jimmy Rollins and Victorino can do at lead off. Jimmy had a subpar year this year. Pitching is even. I don’t know why we are giving the Phils the NLCS before it begins. Didn’t we also do that with the Cubs?
