Heart still beating
Sometimes not much needs to be said to describe incredible, almost miraculous moments. Here’s one you might have seen, oh, early this morning:
Not since 1929 has a team been seven or more runs down in a postseason game and still rallied to win. But we shouldn’t be surprised by the Boston Red Sox anymore, should we? Many of these players were on the 2004 team that was down 3-0 to the Yankees in the American League Championship Series and won. Many of these players were on last year’s team that was down 3-1 to the Cleveland Indians in the ALCS and won. Terry Francona managed all three clubs. There’s history there. And heart, which is the most important thing of all.
I’m not sure what the day off does to the surging Red Sox, who have the momentum, or the dazed Rays, who have to be devastated that they couldn’t close out a game in which they had a 7-0 lead in the seventh inning with one of the best bullpens in the game all lined up. We’ll see what these young guys are made of.
Will Joe Maddon’s strategy of pitching Scott Kazmir on Thursday and having James Shields ready for a possible — and now definite — Game 6 back at Tropicana Field pay off?
Will the Red Sox defy the odds yet again and win two in a row on the road to make it to their second straight World Series?
Let’s hear your predictions.
O.G.
Who knew a team could come back from being down 7-0 with 7 outs to go! What an EPIC game! This is EXACTLY what i wanted to happen! Go Rays at home in St. Pete!
UNBELIEVABLE,UNBELIEVABLE!!!! The SAWX faithful must have went to Mass and Prayed the Rosary last night! What a MIRACLE! The BOSOX are still alive! My congratulations to THE RED SAWX, and the SAWX faithful that stayed at Fenway to the end, and did not leave in the sixth inning!!!!

it’s not just about the yankees! (hence why it says”and baseball talk” in the URL)
I have faith that the Rays will complete what they started this postseason. Shields is 9-2 at Tropicana Field for this regular season. Than their is the markedly improved outfield of the Rays compared to last year. Oh and need i mention the 10th player – the fans. The trop gets loud enough when full that one cannot hear the person next to him or her without shouting… espected attendance at tonights game – around 40 thousand. Oh and i dont think Beckett will be a problem…
IS IT REALLY POSSIBLE OR REALISTIC TO THINK THAT THE RED SOX, AS ROMANTIC A SCENARIO IT WOULD BE , WITH AN ” IFFY ” JOSH BECKETT PITCHING GAME SIX ,CONTAIN THE HITTING ON-SLOUGHT OF THE RAYS AND FORCE A GAME SEVEN IN WHICH THE NOW UNDERDOG SOX WOULD COMEBACK TO WIN THE ALCS? I SAY YEAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH BABY!!!!!!!!
There aren’t many times when someone can truly these immortal words: “I don’t believe what I just saw”, but I think that this is an appropriate time. Seven outs away from elimination, somehow, by some MIRACLE the Red Sox came back… and won. It was magical, it was incredible, but those words can’t even describe how I’m still feeling after that game, I don’t think any words can. About tonight, I think the key is to disregard the past. Sure, the sox have a lot of momentum carrying them into this game, but we can’t rely on the past to bring us into the future. In order to win, we’ve got to focus on game 6, the sox have to focus on winning each inning, and furthermore, winning each pitch; as their captain Jason Varitek puts it. According to Dustin Pedroia, if you focus on game 7, you won’t win game 6. According to one of the MLBlogs (It’s a kind of family, it’s a kind of insanity”, you can’t focus on reality, you can’t focus on rationale or logic, because rationale told everyone in game 5 that the rays were going to win. The Boston Red Sox thrive on belief, and they thrive on faith to win.

All the Red Sox absolutely need is the starting pitching to give them half a chance. I’m not taking the 8 runs in three innings as a sign that the offense has corrected itself. If Beckett can go out there and give a quality start or better, the Red Sox will win. And that’s all I’m concerned with — winning game 6.

I can’t belive it. I am a sox hater. If the red sox win game 6,
they will win the series because of there experience in elimination games and game 7. plus having John Lester in game 7 is an added bonus.
During this playoff season the Soxs have play Wicked crazy ball. But remember one thing about this team they are defending WORLD CHAMPS so they are not going to lie down and die and wait till next year to play. The one thing I’ve learn from the crazy game ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN !!! 20 games win streak to coming back from 7 runs down to win in the bottom of the 9th. So sit back with some popcorn and a soda its going to be a fun night for any baseball fan…. GO SOXS!!!!!!
